RIP George HW Bush

A quick update on the passing of former US president George HW Bush.  He served his country with honour and while not perfect as president, this was a time when Republicans were a reasonable conservative alternative, not crazy like they are under Trump.  In fact my understanding is he voted for Clinton as his party had left him.  He was also a good friend of Canada too and relations between him and Brian Mulroney were quite good.  It was under him that NAFTA was signed and also under him that the Cold War ended although it was coming towards an end once Reagan left office.  Likewise he showed flexibility that some don’t, for example his famous read my lips no new taxes only to raise them is something praiseworthy as it is example of a politician that realizes sometimes circumstances require doing different things, which it did then.
